The underground city of South Australia is home to 3,000 inhabitants. They actually live underground complete with restaurants, hotels, and shops. Coober Pedy is the production site of Opal, one of the world's largest precious stones. The local people then decided to work while living underground.

Wieliczka in Poland
Wieliczka salt mine in southern Krakow, Poland has existed since the 13th century. You would not have thought that there is such a beautiful underground city like being in a building which is made of stone. Wieliczka extends 3.2 Km, but only 2% of its share can be entered by tourists. Some things to see include sculptures, churches, and cathedrals that carved out by the miners and a room with a chandelier made of salt.

This beautiful underground city was built in the 8th century including the caves and underground rooms. Derinkuyu for example, it is 60 meters deep cave that can accommodate 20,000 inhabitants along with their daily needs. Nearly half of the Derinkuyu section is opened to tourists. You also can go to the next cave that is Kaymaklli by passing the tunnel along the 8 km.

City of Caves in England
Inside a mall, there is an entrance to the underground city. You will find when entering Broadmarsh Shopping Center in Nottingham, England. This underground city was used as a residence from the 11th century until 1984. Until now, archaeologists are still digging to find a new cave.
