Abashiri Rainbow Beer
Abashiri is known for brightly colored beer such as Ryuhyo Draft blue, Hamanasu Draft red, Shiretoko Draft green and Jyaga Draft pink or purple. The beer concept is apparently derived from four seasons in Hokkaido. For the Blue Draft Ryuhyo is distilled with water from melting icebergs every year and floats past the northern coast of Hokkaido. The blue color comes from seaweed extract just as Shiretoko Draft Green through fermented seaweed. For Hamanasu Draft red, abashiri wears the Hamanasu fruit and wildflowers that bloom along the summer sea. For Jyaga, they wear a purple potato during a big harvest in the fall.
